In 2010 I was asked to do costumes for a student’s theater/dance/music piece. Little more than a handful of texts and musical ideas at first, it involved a lot of collaboration between all the members of the production and evolved as it went. At the time these sketches were made, the show was still in an embryonic stage, and by the time the costumes were finished, they no longer fit the character of the piece, so they were never used. While it’s undeniably a bummer to have things you’ve worked on cut, it’s actually one of my favorite things about the theater: the unpredictable changes and the spirit of “the show must go on”.
